JetLease - the world's premier private aviation sales, leasing and finance company - is now one of the world's first to launch leasing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The new division, JetLease Unmanned, will offer full service leasing to this exciting new segment of the aviation market. UAVs, also known as drones, have come into widespread use by the military, civilian and scientific communities.
"This is an exciting milestone for our business," said Russ Dise, president of JetLease. "As a leader and innovator in the aircraft leasing industry and major player with 35 years' experience in civilian and government customers worldwide, it made absolute sense for JetLease to expand into this fast-growing new sector."
JetLease Vice President Katy Glynn, Managing Partner for JetLease Unmanned, added: "The global footprint of JetLease, in tandem with our experience across military and civilian fixed-wing and rotary aircraft of all types and sizes, provides the ideal base on which to build the range of leasing products for UAVs."

On the heels of the recent announcement that UMS SKELDAR and JetLease have joined forces to launch the first global leasing product for its vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) portfolio, including their flagship unmanned helicopter, SKELDAR V-200 UAV, UMS SKELDAR Head of Business Development David Willems has cited Australia and the Pacific nations as a major priority.
Speaking at the PACIFIC 2017 International Maritime Exposition, held at Sydney Oct. 3-5, Willems said:
"It is a logical extension to our global expansion to focus on Australia, which plays a strategically pivotal role in military and economic terms across the Pacific Rim. Importantly, Australia is developing its defense industries, and we see our future development as innovator in the unmanned Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) sector with strategic partners, to also cover the demanding requirements of the civilian sector including Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Search & Rescue (SAR)."
At the event, Willems met with Australia's Minister of Defense Industries Chris Pyne to discuss the SKELDAR V-200 UAV. The V-200 includes excellent fuel consumption, an ability to cold start without the requirement for heaters and has the best time between overhaul (TBO) within its class, making it the ideal partner for navies and coastguards around the globe.
"Our flagship unmanned helicopter SKELDAR V-200 covers all the bases with unmatched technology," said Willems, "including Maritime and NATO-compliant heavy fuel engine and best in class payload options that provide an all-round superior rotary VTOL aircraft incorporating Saab's experience of 80 years in the aviation industry. Our intention is that we will have a permanently-based platform here to demonstrate to the different stakeholders by next year."
